Steve Simpson

Steve, founder of MPM, has over 45-years of experience in the marine construction industry. Current responsibilities include corporate management, HSEQ oversight, and major project management.  Experience includes serving as construction diver and diving supervisor for Ocean Systems Inc. in Santa Barbara, CA, from 1973 to 1980, after which time Steve cofounded International Diving Services, Inc. (IDS), in Port Hueneme, CA.  IDS grew from a single small office in California into the primary marine construction services provider for both Offshore California and Cook Inlet Alaska, with over 120 employees, two dive support vessels, one anchor handling tug, and two ROV’s.  IDS was sold to American Oilfield Divers (AOD) in 1994 and Mr. Simpson remained with AOD as VP of Technical Services until founding MPM in 1996.  MPM is now the leading west coast consulting and project management services provider, specializing in unique nearshore and underwater projects.  MPM’s areas of expertise include nearshore and surf zone operations, pipeline installation and repairs, well and pipeline abandonments, and MPM is a global leader in underwater cathodic protection system surveys and retrofits.

Dave Hankins

Dave has over 30-years of experience in the offshore diving and marine construction industries and has been instrumental in the planning and implementation of the majority of Cook Inlet Alaska operations for both International Diving Services (IDS), and MPM.  He has managed several complex and unique marine projects for major oil companies and other clients.  Dave is an extremely effective project manager for both nearshore and underwater construction and inspection projects due to his experience, understanding of project regulatory compliance requirements, and communication skills.  Before working as a Project Manager at MPM, Dave’s background includes being a commercial diver and dive supervisor, ROV operator, hydrographic surveyor, and survey Party Chief.  Dave skills include AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, network management, and IT infrastructure.  Dave wrote the code for the original MPM CPSS data collection system and then updated and rewrote the software to develop MPM SIMS.
